Construction Update
A Touch of Wanda

Whoever asked for a 93-something story skyscraper for Christmas, Santa’s little helpers are busy right now stuffing your stocking over in Lakeshore East.

That’s where Loop Spy Jon took the photo above, showing busy bees putting in a foundation for the Vista Tower.  When completed, the tower will rise more than 1,100 feet into the sky, just a couple of blocks from the Lake Michigan shoreline, and just across Wacker Drive from the Chicago River.  In other words, you’ll have to try hard not to see it.

The project is being developed by Magellan, and designed by Studio Gang with bKL helping out.  The green comes from the East, in the form of financing from China’s Dalian Wanda Group.  When done, there will be 200 residences, 400 hotel rooms, and 9,000 square feet of retail space.  Plus a long-awaited street connection between Lakeshore East and Wacker Drive.
