How to stick your tongue out at Michigan Avenue

The renovation of the public space in front of Michigan Plaza is complete, and the most striking change is the addition of a giant red tongue giving a raspberry to the thousands of people who walk by each day.   Sure, it looks like an awning, but its size, height, and shape don’t look like it would be useful for keeping the rain off of anybody.

The rest of the plaza came out pretty good.  Though we would have liked to see more trees and greenery there are actually tables out there now!  You hardly ever see tables included in public spaces these days; especially in new construction.
