Riding the Waves on Wellington

A man’s home is his castle.  Or his ship.  Or something inbetween.  That’s what we appear to have here at 948 West Wellington Avenue .

Someone took a crappy narrow Lake View lot stuck between the Brown Line’s Wellington station and a surface parking lot, and instead of putting up the same-old cliché four-flat, made something visually interesting out of it.

I found two sources about this building.  A usual one says it went up in 1997.  A new one claims 1993.  Either way, the colors and materials are very 90’s post-modern, though the glass blocks, angles, and geometric shapes are straight out of an 80’s Duran Duran video.
