Happy 60611 Day!

I love quirky celebrations, from Saint Bovus Day (the Frobozzian patron saint of fine slate patios), to the less esoteric Seinfeld-inspired Festivus.  Today is a special day or people living in Chicago’s Gold Coast, and Streeterville neighborhoods.  It’s 6.06.11 day.

For those of you who don’t live in the area, 60611 is the ZIP code for that portion of Chicago.

There’s a bunch of activities scheduled all week, from tours of historic hotels to the dedication of the neighborhood’s new post office.  If you have anything to mail, don’t do it today!  Send it from the new Streeterville station tomorrow, and it will get a special postmark featuring the Chicago skyline, and the picture of Captain Streeter, the scalawag for whom the area is named.

Information about everything going on cam be found here: 60611 Day.
