Demolition Underway For The Gateway Tower in Greektown
We’re seeing the first signs of progress on The Gateway, a new residential tower going in at the corner of West Madison Street and South Halsted Street.
Demolition crews are chewing through the rubble of an unremarkable two-story bank, clearing the L-shaped plot for the 312-foot-tall building. The project also includes a supermarket, and will eliminate a surface parking lot as it wraps around the more substantial building currently at 2 South Halsted Street, formerly the Mid-City Trust and Savings Bank Building.
