Briefly: Purple Power, Traditional Houses

  • This weekend, buildings around Chicago will be bathed in purple lights.  This is to mark Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.  This is the same disease that killed Steve Jobs.  More information about what’s going on in Chicago here.
  • Thursday, November 3rd there will be a lecture called “The Architecture of Howard Van Doren Shaw: Reinventing the Traditional House” presented by the Glessner House Museum.  Doors open at 6:00pm, lecture begins at 7:00pm at the Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 South Michigan Avenue.  Admission is $10.
