Briefly: Tricks and Towers in the South Loop, Liking Apartments

  • Crain’s Chicago Business reports that Golub has bought a parking lot and plans to build a 35-story residential tower at 907 South State Street.   It’s been added to our Going Up Map.
  • Thanks to Mike Stephen at the Outside The Loop radio show on WLUW(FM).  He did an interview on Thursday morning about the Chicago Architecture Blog.  If you didn’t hear it on 88.7FM, check out the show online. It’s on iTunes, you can play it in your browser on this page, or download the MP3 here.
  • The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Cheap Trick will be in charge of a new museum on Music Row, the portion of the South Loop near McCormick Place that the city is trying to turn into a tourist destination.
  • Apartments.com is donating $1 to the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless for every person that “likes” it on Facebook (linky).  But only up to $25,000.  So if Apartments.com has about 50,000 “likes” when you check it out, your “like” may do no good.
