Construction Update
American Junkie in River North

American Junkie Chicago

It’s been a while since we checked in on the building that’s supposed to go up at 15 West Illinois Street, replacing a surface parking lot.  Back in January of this year it was announced that this would become a branch of the Phoenix-based bar chain American Junkie.

As of today, it’s still a lot, just without the parking.  It probably didn’t take much to tear down the parking attendant shack that gave so many passersby a “tilting at windmills” moment of merriment.  Now that it’s toppled, a foundation has been laid, and work is starting on the first floor.

We haven’t seen much in the way of drawings of what the bar is supposed to look like when it’s done.  It’s being put together by LG Development and Construction, but LG doesn’t even mention the project y name, let alone with a picture, on its web site.

So here’s a drawing from American Junkie’s Facebook page to tide you over.  Enjoy!
