Northeast Grant Park Laid to Waste As Progress Approaches

Maggie Daley Park

Well, that was quick.

Just a few weeks after construction crews started putting up fences around Daley Bicentennial Plaza in preparation for turning it into Maggie Daley Park, all the trees and bushes and other plants have been razed.

Denuding the land is the first step in the project to repair the parking garage beneath the park and upgrade the park from state-of-the-ark to state-of-the-art.

If you’re familiar with the area, it just looks weird all naked. But it might be a good opportunity to get some early morning skyline photos that wouldn’t have been possible before with all the trees in the way.
