It’s been a long time in the making, but AMLI Clark & Polk is finally rising from the soil of the South Loop.
The pair of buildings going up at 800 South Clark Street is immediately north of another residential project by Chicago-based AMLI: The 255-foot-tall tower known as AMLI900.
The plot where AMLI Clark & Polk is going was originally going to be a pair of 50-story sky-obliterating towers with 1,000 homes and an equal number of parking spaces. That project didn’t work out for the previous owner, and now AMLI is putting up a far more modest apartment complex consisting of two 12-story buildings with 199 apartments in each, joined in typical Chicago fashion by… a parking podium.
Construction is expected to be completed by October.
