The small building that made a big splash in the South Loop last year is starting to rise from the earth.
1345 Wabash (1345 South Wabash Avenue) is a 15-story condominium block being developed by CMK Companies. You can see in these pictures that the parking garage that will make up the building’s podium is already well underway. It appears that work so far is concentrated on the ramps, which are hard next to the storage building next door.
CMK is also developing a taller building next door at 1333. There, it plans to put up a 276-foot-tall apartment building designed by Brininstool+Lynch. A previous developer tried to put up a residential tower at 1333, but failed when the economy ate itself. The new 1333 will literally be built on the foundations of the old building.
