Things are moving quickly over at 200 North Michigan Avenue. How quickly? Well, it was just a couple of weeks ago we brought you these pictures of construction crews getting their gear together to plant some caissons in the Loop soil for John Buck Company’s new 41-story apartment tower. Now the city has issued a permit for a new tower crane to be erected at 201 North Garland Court, which is the back door for 200 North Michigan Avenue.
I know you crane fans hate it when I’m not specific about these things, so the beast in question is a Liebherr 316 EC-H 12 Litronic Tower crane. There. I just made somebody’s day. For the rest of us, based on a Google search, my guess is that it’s going to be yellow.
When complete, the skyscraper will rise 488 feet over this rapidly evolving strip of North Michigan Avenue, and sport two floors of retail at its base. It was designed by friends-of-the-blog bKL Architecture.
