Construction Update
Hilton’s Garden Inn Starts to Bloom

Hilton Garden Inn under construction

The new Hilton Garden Inn sprouting at 66 East Wacker Place is undergoing a growth spurt.  The soon-to-be 26-story hotel being built for GDS Companies is already up to its 11th floor, according to photos from Chicago Architecture Blog photographer Daniel Schell.

The building was designed by GREC Architects, which describes it thusly:

Located on a very compact site between two landmark structures – the Chicago Motor Club and the Seventeenth Church of Christ Scientist – the project is a select service hotel with a prominent profile on the Chicago River. The design intent of the primary façade is to complement that of the Motor Club in contemporary language and materials. The riverside façade is intended as an abstract image of sunlight reflecting on the surface of water.

When completed, the new limited-service hotel will have 191 rooms.  Delivery is expected in nine months.
