The architect behind the West Loop’s JeffJack Apartments now has visions of a new building in the South Loop.
Crain’s Chicago Business reports that architect Thomas Roszak is part of a trio that plans to rip down the low-slung parking garage at 600 South Clark Street—the southwest corner of South Clark Street and West Harrison Street—and replace it with a 22-story apartment building. The other partners in the project are Dan Moceri, who runs a suburban tech company and his son Michael Moceri, whom Crain’s says is also an architect.
Specs are scarce and there’s no paperwork filed with the city yet, but in an e-mail to Crain’s, the younger Mr. Moceri says the building will be 24-stories tall, and have 202 residences. Fortunately, it doesn’t take a mathmagician to figure out the approximate building envelope of a 24-story apartment building in that location and superimpose it on an Apple Map:
Obviously, the building will be taller than its immediate 15-story neighbor, but not out-sized for the neighborhood. Still, brace yourselves for cries of, “Oh, my view!” from people whose current homes block other people’s former views.
