The long-awaited transformation of the gravel and dirt parking lot at 108 North Jefferson Street into a hotel sandwich is finally starting. A few days ago permits were issued to begin the foundation work, described thusly:
The developer is Jupiter Realty. You may remember it from such hits as the 215 West apartments (215 West Washington Street) back in 2010. The architect is VOA. You may remember that firm from such buildings as the InterContinental Hotel near O’Hare, and the Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile (500 North Michigan Avenue).
When complete, the building is expected to boast a Hampton Inn and a Homewood Suites. It will rise 250 feet and 23 stories into the air and have 338 rooms.
