Richard H. Driehaus, founder of Chicago-based Driehaus Capital Management, will receive AIA Chicago’s 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. Driehaus will be honored by AIA Chicago during the annual Designight Design Excellence Awards on Oct. 23 at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom.
Driehaus has been associated with preservation and classical principles in planning and architecture. According to AIA Chicago, his sponsorship and philanthropy have shown a dedication to architecture.
One example of his commitment to architecture and design excellence is the Richard H. Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture. The annual $200,000 prize was created in 2003, and is administered by The University of Notre Dame School of Architecture.
Driehaus also formed the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, providing support to pursue a mission of increasing equity and sustaining the cultural, economic and environmental life of the city and region.
