Due to its geographic proximity to our West Loop bureau, the combination Homewood Suites-Hampton Inn being erected at 108 North Jefferson Street has become something of an office pet here at The Chicago Architecture Blog. Wandering a block north during lunch hour makes for a nice little break from the everyday routine. Plus, if we snap a few photos, that lunch bill instantly becomes a nice write-off.
Recently, we upsized our combo meals, compelling us not only to take some pictures of the construction progress, but also to share them with you here.
As a reminder, the Homewood-Hampton, designed by VOA, will rise 23 stories and 250 feet into the West Loop air. Homewood Suites will have 128 guest rooms, while the Hampton Inn portion will provide 210 guest rooms. All while blocking a solid 50% of the east-facing views from the brand new Catalyst Apartments at 123 North Des Plaines.
Also included are 7,950 square feet of retail space along North Jefferson, parking for 117 cars within the building’s 2nd and 3rd floors, green roofs and terraces, and planted areas along the sidewalks. Jupiter Realty Company is the developer, and expects to open the project for business in September 2016.
And now, for those progress photos we promised you.
