THE MISSNER GROUP COMPLETES NEW FITNESS FACILITY IN CHICAGO
(Skokie, Illinois) – The Missner Group, LLC is pleased to announce the completion of a new 25,000 square foot fitness facility for First Ascent at 3516 N. Spaulding in Chicago.
First Ascent is a local, community-focused climbing gym catering to climbers of all levels throughout Chicago. The new building, constructed by The Missner Group, features climbing, yoga and fitness center. The facility includes a 60’ high climbing area with Walltopia-designed climbing terrain, the tallest in Chicago; top rope and lead walls with overhangs, roofs, slabs and cracks; 5,000 square feet of stand-alone bouldering with caves, prows and overhangs; and a yoga studio. In addition, The Missner Group constructed a 7,000 square foot mezzanine for a training center with system boards and slacklines as well as a full-body fitness area. The center also includes a café, pro-shop, locker rooms and community spaces.
“Over the years, we’ve completed numerous sporting facilities throughout the area from volleyball and soccer centers, to extreme trampoline facilities,” said Glen Missner, who led the construction efforts for Missner. “Our experience and dedication to this project enabled us to provide First Ascent the highest quality of construction while also providing a first-class climbing facility for Chicago.”
The construction team for The Missner Group was led by Executive Vice President and Principal, Glen Missner, Vice President of Construction Drue Stoehr, Senior Project Engineer Uros Stojakovic and Superintendent Gary Bertoncini. Fitzgerald Associates provided the architectural services.
