Art Is Blooming Up Above The Streets On The 606

If you haven’t been up to The 606 yet, the weather is still pleasant enough for a stroll above the busy streets. And now, there’s more public art to enjoy. A new installation of artist Chakaia Booker’s Brick House 2015 has just been completed. The large sculpture is made of rubber tires, rubber and stainless steel. You can find it at the Damen Arts Plaza, a few blocks west of Milwaukee and North Ave. on Damen Ave.

Further west, at the southwest corner of Bloomingdale Ave. and Humboldt Blvd., you’ll find an untitled mural created by students from Marwen, the local non-profit arts education initiative. The students worked alongside artist Marta Garcia on the project. They used the Humboldt Park Boathouse as a home base while creating the
