Slice of Life: Former Gino’s East Site Gets Foundation Permit

Gino's east, 167 west erie street

See what we did there?

Seriously though, the Planet-Hollywood-turned-pizza-emporium (those slices? How about eye-sore-ium) Gino’s East site is one step closer to becoming a residential tower, now that the City of Chicago has issued a foundation permit for 167 West Erie Street.

Foundation and Podium Superstructure (Levels LL1-9) permit to include parking (131 spaces), 1st floor retail and associated site work.

A demolition permit was issued way back on July 6; expect to see tear-down work begin post haste now that Magellan Development can see the light at the end of the breadsticks. Its project, designed by Loewenberg Architects, can begin with caisson work as soon as crews start bulldozing the pizza ovens off the lot. American Demolition gets those honors, according to the demo permit. Linn-Mathes will be the general contractor on the new tower.

Location: 167 West Erie Street, River North
