Construction Update
Slice of Lights: River Point Illuminates the Chicago River

River Point

River Point, straight up from Canal Street.

As River Point (444 West Lake Street) continues to climb toward its ultimate 730-foot height, we feel the need to remind ourselves the tower will look so much more spectacular once completed. That may seem rather obvious, but passing by, especially after dark, continues to be one of our favorite pastimes at the Chicago Architecture Blog. There are lots of construction sites around Chicago that will instantly grab your attention, but for night-time viewing, in our opinion you’d be hard pressed to find a more spell-binding site than River Point all lit up and glorious at night.  And based on your e-mails and tweets, you agree.

Now half-shrouded in fabric, half-covered in glass, the Pickard Chilton Architects-designed, 52-story office building is slated for completion early in 2017. That gives us a solid 13 months to admire its unfinished beauty. And remember, it will look more amazing when it’s done.

Location: 444 West Lake Street, Fulton River District
