Hilton’s Mag Mile Suites to be Renovated

The Hilton hotel chain’s cumbersomely-named Hilton Chicago/Magnificent Mile Suites at 198 East Delaware Place is in for a little spruce-up.

The hotel tucked behind the John Hancock Center underwent facade repairs last fall.  This time, it’s the inside of the hotel that’s getting some improvements.  From the city permit:

REMODEL 345 GUESTROOMS WITH NEW FINISHES. REPLACE TUBS WITH SHOWERS AND ASSOCIATED PIPING FOR NEW 2” DRAINS FOR NEW SHOWERS AND SHOWER VALVES. IN 298 GUESTROOMS. WORK SUBJECT TO FIELD INSPECTION.

We haven’t stayed at this hotel (though we have eaten here), so we can’t say if the rooms need work.  But a TripAdvisor review written by a Greek tourist earlier this year was titled “Great location- needs renovation.”  However, this same person also complained that the Magnificent Mile was “rather commercial,” so take his advice with an apple-flavored salt lick.  Which turns out to be a real thing.
