Two months after being cinched into her cotillion frock and paraded in front of the West Town rabble in her coming out party, 352 North Union is now in full pantsuit mode, ready to be presented to the Chicago Plan Commission. Serious business, this.

The 38-story residential skyscraper just south of the K2 tower at 365 North Halsted features a main entrance off of a new North Union Street cul-de-sac, and an auxiliary exit that squirts cars over Hubbard’s Cave, under North Halsted Street and onto North Green Street.  It is separated from K2 by a 41-foot-wide railroad easement planned to be used for a high-speed rail link from Union Station to Saint Louis.  The building’s southern boundary is also a rail line — the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific rail line, now used by Metra and Amtrak.

The biggest change from when it was originally introduced to the public back in November of 2015 to today is that third access route to and from the parking garage.  Previously there was ground level access from Union Street, and elevated restricted access from the Halsted Street Viaduct.  Now there is also a ground level route on the west side, snaking beneath the viaduct, meeting North Green Street.

It also appears that the water feature has been removed from the public dog park.  But that may be an oversight.  In case it isn’t, here’t the firehose for all those yip-yapping little terriers.  Terriers love firehoses:
