It’s hard to believe it was just seven months ago that construction crews started sinking excavator teeth into the gummy silt that passes for dirt in downtown Chicago.  The project they embarked on way back when was the bKL-designed skyscraper commonly called 720 North LaSalle, officially titled 165 West Superior, and still sometimes known as the HoJo Tower.

River North Spy Mike smacked us upside the tip line with two photos showing how far the tower has come, which is about to the 17th or 18th floor.

When complete, Magellan Development’s tower will reach 34 stories in the sky, meaning in terms of height, it’s just about half grown.  Occupancy of the 298 residences is expected to start late this year.
