It’s been several hours since we’ve updated you on the status of 30 East, the 16-story apartment tower coming to 30 East Balbo Avenue in the South Loop.
We’re here again to remind you that time is money. And money can’t be wasted. Which is why, just one day after the City of Chicago signed off on the foundation permit for 30 East, crews from Power Construction and Lindahl Bros. descended on the site to get equipment in place for caisson work.
30 East Balbo was a flurry of activity Tuesday, with gravel trucks coming and going faster than they could be counted, and caisson hardware being stacked as flatbeds arrived. And let’s not forget the giant blue digger from Stallworth Underground, which should be drilling holes into the lot any minute now.
Here are a few shots of the mayhem crews are about to unleash on 30 East:
- Bird’s-eye view of activity at 30 East Balbo.
- A big blue machine showed up.
- As did the foundation hardware.
- You know they mean business when the first crane hits the scene.
- Relative calm Monday, before Tuesday’s permit-induced frenzy.
