There is earth being moved for the future apartment tower, Alta Roosevelt, at 801 South Financial Place in the South Loop. And as of Tuesday the 29th, there’s official permission on file from the City of Chicago.
FOUNDATION PERMIT ONLY FOR 33 STORY RESIDENTIAL HIGHRISE
With that permit already burning a hole in someone’s pocket, we’re gonna go ahead and assume foundation equipment is already streaming into the expanse of dirt at 801 South Financial Place. That seems to be the M.O. lately; get a permit, then get to work before the ink is dry.
The 33-story Pappageorge Haymes-designed Alta Roosevelt tower is being developed by Atlanta-based Wood Partners. Expect 496 dwelling units here, with a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom rentals.
Here are the stats we shared a couple weeks ago, when our Loop Spy Drew dropped us a line to say there was activity on the lot:
- Address: 801 South Financial Place
- Developer: Wood Partners
- Architecture firm: Pappageorge Haymes
- Height: 354 feet
- Residences: 496
- Parking spaces: 348
- Residential entry: Off South Financial Place
- Parking entry: Off South Financial Place
- Loading dock: Off West Polk Street
- Dog park between the building and the Metra tracks
- Basement parking!
Basement parking means we can expect to see a considerable amount of digging yet to come here. Which, obviously, means this will be a very fun space to watch in the coming months. Stay tunes.
