It still doesn’t look like a hotel, yet, but work continues toward that very end on the Goettsch Partners-designed Marriott Marquis Chicago in the Prairie Avenue District. **
The 39-story hotel tower broke ground back in July. It’s bringing 1206 guest rooms and 90,000 square feet of meeting space to the expanding McCormick Place campus, perfect for visiting Big East teams playing DePaul at the McCormick Place Event Center on the other side of the for-now-inaccessible Prairie Avenue.
Clark Construction Group is making headway on the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority project, located at 2121 South Prairie Avenue, and we’ve got some photo to prove it:
- The core is starting to rise.
- The Ground Crane, rarely seen in the wild.
- Rear of the American Book Company building.
- We had promised not to shoot this crane from behind. We lied.
- The American Book Company building, being rehabbed as part of the hotel development.
