The other day friend-of-the-blog Joe Zekas of YoChicago! just happened to be on the roof of a South Loop residential tower (that’s how he rolls) and sent over a beautiful photograph of the Chicago skyline and all of its lovely lovely skyscrapers. But what caught our attention was the tiny little diggers and lifters toward the bottom of the picture, earnestly churning through the mud to build 801 South Financial Place.
The new tower from Wood Partners out of Atlanta will be 33-stories tall, with 496 residences and 348 parking spaces. The design is by Pappageorge Haymes. Visually, it looks like two wide towers joined together, oriented north to south.
Also visible in the picture is the construction site across the street. It will eventually be a four-story residential building called South Loop Place. The building a 837 South Wells Street is apparently going to be the place to live if you’re searching for the answer to life the universe and everything. That’s because it will have exactly 42 residences and 42 parking spaces.
Mr. Zekas’ original photo is below for your viewing pleasure.
