New Fulton River District Tower Planned Next To a Hipster Landmark

Depiction of a potential building envelope for the future 217 North Jefferson

While all eyes in the Fulton River District have been on the magnificent tower rising at 444 East Lake Street, another tower quietly snuck up behind us.

217 North Jefferson is proposed for a space just two blocks west of River Point. Right now it’s a six story brick building and a surface parking lot. That brick building is a little special, though. It used to be the headquarters of Schwinn Bicycles, where generations of fixies were born. Fortunately, it will not be demolished.

The new tower that JDL Development wants to put up in the surface parking lot is 27 stories tall with 94 residences and 96 parking spaces.

There aren’t many details available just yet, but we’ll keep digging.

Location: 217 North Jefferson Street, Fulton River District
