The Chicago Plan Commission has given developers the green light to move forward with their plan to build a new hotel at 430 North LaSalle Street.

The proposal from Porritt Group, out of Troy, is for an 18-story building with up to 199 hotel rooms.  There will also be ground floor retail space, and a roof top pool and bar.  It’s designed by Victor Saroki of Saroki Architecture in Birmingham, Michigan.  The Saroki design shows a building 200 feet tall, though Porritt is permitted to best that by 35 feet.

A rendering of the building on the Porritt Group’s web site shows the hotel bearing the Andaz flag.  However, Hyatt has made no announcement about opening an Andaz-branded hotel in Chicago yet.  Going back to the beginning of 2015, the chain has only announced locations in Vienna, Scottsdale, Palm Springs, Singapore and Ottawa.

Location: 430 North LaSalle Street, River North
