If you love a good construction site, then Wells Street is the place to be.
We’ve shown you this area before, back when it was just foundations on either side of North Wells Street between Erie and Ontario. Now that 167 West Erie and its neighbor across the street, 640 North Wells are both well on their way toward completion, it makes for a much more compelling scene, captured by Joe Zekas of YoChicago!.
167 is a 39-story Loewenberg Architects design for Mac Management and Magellan Development.
640 is 22-stories of Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture for JDL Development.
You have to wonder if way up there, above the fray of the pedestrians below, if the construction workers don’t make silly faces at one another. Or perhaps use those giant cranes to trade kegs of adult beverages after Mr. Slate blows the whistle Friday afternoons.
