Back in the spring we were the first to tell you that the long-delayed plans to build a new chapel for the Church of Later Day Saints in River North was finally moving forward. Now, with foundation work already underway, the city has given the Mormons permission to go full steam ahead at 822 North Clark Street.
The permit summary pretty much tells the story. Except that the architect is LDS favorite David Dixon of Dixon+Associates in Salt Lake City, naturally. The building will accommodate several local LDS congregations on Sundays, plus provide meeting and activity space during the week.
The photo below from Joe Zekas at YoChicago! shows just how far things have come in the short three months since this was a surface parking lot.
