This past July we were delighted to bring you the news that a shuttered Chicago Public School was getting ready to begin a second chapter in its life.  Dwight Perkins‘, Trumbull Elementary School at 5200 North Ashland Avenue in Andersonville was going to be redeveloped into residences and a performing arts space for The Timeline Theater.

Now, part of that plan is out the window.

After much hard work buy all parties involved, it has been determined that the theater isn’t a good fit for the school.  Not because it wants to do anything wacky.  According to Edgeville Buzz, it’s because the school is a historic building, so there is a limit to the kinds of renovations and changes that can be made to accommodate the theater.  Timeline is now looking for a different home, and Svigos Development is looking for a more compatible theater company. 40th Ward Alderman Patrick O’Connor says the developer still plans to close on the school property next month.
