It’s been 19 months since Milwaukee development company Barrett Lo Visionary Development announced The Blanc Chicago (612 North Wells Street) on its Facebook page. Now the company’s owner tells a business newspaper up north that next year is the year work will commence.
BizTimes reports that Rick Barrett plans to launch three projects next year; Blanc among them. It’s his first project in Chicago.
The building is a condominium block designed by Rinka Chung (also of Milwaukee). It will have 31 residences with 44 parking spaces, plus retail space with 84 parking spaces. The architecture firm describes it thusly:
Classic styling with modern refinement make this posh 12-story high-rise an excellent addition to the birthplace of modern architecture. Blanc offers a place of sophistication for those who desire fine details and high end living.
612 North Wells is currently Carson’s Ribs. The last location in the city. According to BizTimes, Mr. Barrett purchased the property from Carson’s five years ago, and plans to have the Chicago rib staple re-open on the ground floor of his new building when it’s completed.
