It’s Not the Bat Signal Shining Over the South Loop Tonight

For the past couple of nights, there’s been a red glow in the night sky over the South Loop.  It isn’t some new super hero in tight pants and cape looking for trouble.  It’s the new Marriott Marquis hotel at McCormick Place.

The hotel is going to open this fall, but wants to make a splash early, so the red display is intended to get your attention and remind you that there’s a new skyscraper in town.  When it does open, the new Marriott will feature 1,205 hotel rooms; 90,000 square feet of meeting space; and quick access to both the convention center and the new Wintrust Arena across the street.

Tonight (Monday, March 20th) is the last night the light show will bathe the top of the 40-story building in red glow, but the good folks at Marriott sent over some photographs in case you missed it.
