Construction Update
3Eleven Rising Above River North

“Three Eleven” is more than just a 90’s band from Omaha.  More than the city’s non-emergency hotline.  Soon it will be the newest residential tower in River North.

Joe Zekas at YoChicago! sent in the photo above showing the impressive progress The John Buck Company’s 3Eleven is making, snug between the CTA’s elevated Brown/Purple line tracks and Assumption Catholic Church.

When it opens in January of next year, the 25-story FitzGerald Associates-designed building will have 245 apartments with 105 parking spaces for cars, and twice as many for bicycles.  There will also be 3,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.

This is one of two buildings going up in downtown Chicago on former church parking lots.  In exchange for the space for the tower, the church is getting a renovated and expanded priory.  The other similar deal is over in the West Loop at Old Saint Patrick’s church.

3Eleven has a web site, but it’s just one of those (weak) ones that only adds your information to a mailing list.  Still, if you have an extra eight seconds to spare, it’s worth seeing because even though it’s built on WordPress (lame), it’s absolutely trippy.
