Construction Update
One Bennett Park About to Eclipse 500LSD

We just can’t get enough of One Bennett Park, the Related Midwest luxury tower that’s bringing a taste of Gotham to Streeterville.

Fortunately, we don’t need ISO 12312-2 certified eyewear to gaze upon this star of downtown Chicago’s construction solar system.

Joe Zekas of YoChicago! sent in the drool-worthy photograph above showing the Robert A.M. Stern joint is about to eclipse its next-door neighbor, 500 Lake Shore Drive.

You’ll remember that 500LSD was one of two dying skyscraper projects rescued by Related when it came to town in the first half of the decade.  It managed to turn 500 into the city’s first truly luxury rental building in years, touching off a minor amenities arms race among local developers.

Eventually 1BP will outgrow both 500 and the rest of its immediate neighbors as it stretches to an eventual height of 820 feet and 70 stories. Look for this belle of the ball to have her cotillion in 2018.

Disclosure: One Bennett Park is being developed by Related Midwest, a sponsor of this publication.  But that doesn’t mean it’s not a “dope” building, as the kids say.
