Plans for a new residential tower along the Kennedy Expressway have been cut back. The Mill, a project designed by Antunovich Associates for Tandem, is being trimmed from 226 residences to 196.
The Chicago Department of Planning and Development has approved the developer’s request for the change at 734 North Milwaukee Avenue, plus an accompanying reduction in the number of parking spaces. See below for the revised diagrams filed with the city.
The good news is two-fold. First, the third floor of the parking podium will be lined with residences along Milwaukee Avenue and Carpenter Street, reducing the visual impact of yet another Chicago podium parking garage.
And second, even though there will be fewer homes in this building, it won’t be scaled down. The “overall height” remains at 250 feet. And the actual maximum height increases to 271 feet because of larger mechanical equipment on the roof.
