If your muscle memory keeps bringing you to the corner of State and Division when you need to use a cash machine, you really should stop that. The Chase bank at 1200 North State Parkway closed months ago. And as we can see in this photograph from Gold Coast Spy Joel, the building is gone now, too.

In its place will rise an 11-story residential building designed by Baltimore’s CallisonRTKL for Newcastle, down the street on Michigan Avenue. The building is expected to have 95 residences and 32 automobile parking spaces.
While nothing special visually, it does at least bring a bit of density to a corner that deserves it. Replacing the tired two-story retail building with something new, and five times larger makes sense in this location.
