Construction is underway at Optima Lakeview, the new apartment building slotting in to the space where the Treasure Island supermarket used to be on Broadway in Lake View. Optima Lakeview will bring 198 new homes to the neighborhood in a seven-story building from — you guessed it — Optima, up in Glencoe.

The supermarket closed in 2018. Optima Lakeview is scheduled to open in 2022. Chances are the 14,000 square feet of retail space replacing Treasure Island won’t feature a Long John Silver’s, but that would be pretty epic.
For those of your rolling back into The Loop for work, there will be 94 car parking spaces and 208 bicycle parking spaces, plus immediate access to the CTA #36 bus. For those of you who expect to still be working from home in two years, this building will have a business center and two conference rooms. Another plus, Optima won’t lock you into using just one internet provider.

The building’s stand-out features will include a skylit landscaped atrium running through the middle of the building. The apartments and amenities are arranged around this feature.
Optima is promoted as being “Steps from Lake Michigan.” Using size nine Keds and a GIS tool, we determined it is 3,243 steps away. We’ll do a proper sneaker test once people on the lakefront get better at being socially distant.
Location: 3460 North Broadway Street, Lake View
