West Loop Office Building Moves Forward

The proposed office building at 601 West Randolph Street is a step closer to becoming a reality.  The Chicago Plan Commission has thumbed the project from Vista Development, slated to land a 15-story office building on a surface parking lot.

The project was designed by Antunovich Associates, and will preserve the evocative four-story code orange pile on the corner of Randolph and Jefferson streets.  Though its new 15-story cousin will hang over part of the older building.

It was alert readers like you who tipped us off about this project many moons ago.

Since it was first proposed last year, 601 has been revised thrice, with a reduction in height and bulk each time.  It started out as 17-stories, with a two-story parking garage.  It’s now down to 15 stories at 211 feet in height, and zero parking.
