This time last year, we were hoping to see a pair of brand new skyscrapers completed across the street from Holy Name Cathedral when we showed up Christmas 2020 mass. But that’s not going to happen. Hardly anyone is going to Christmas mass in person this year at Holy Name, and the skyscraper duo known as One Chicago isn’t finished yet, anyway.
But that doesn’t mean the JDL Development project isn’t making a big impact on the Gold Coast. These pictures sent in by YoChicago! show the project is the biggest thing to hit the Gold Coast since the last big thing that hit the Gold Coast.
We used all of our fingers and toes to calculate that construction crews are closing in on the 50th floor of the structure. You’ll remember that one tower is supposed to be 49 stories tall, and the other one 76. Inside, we’re expecting 800 new homes, and a Whole Foods market.
