Construction Update
Prep Underway For New West Loop High-Rise

If you’re a fan of West Loop development, thank the eagle eyes of fellow reader West Loop Spy Kurt for letting us all know that things are starting to happen at 601 West Randolph Street.

Kurt says Jersey barriers have gone up along Randolph Street. It’s a sure sign that scaffolding, hard hats, and heavy equipment are on the way. He also notes that last week there were geoprobe rigs on the site, probing the site’s geo.

For those of you just tuning in, 601 West Randolph is a Vista Development joint designed by Antunovich Associates. While it takes its address from the Code Orange building on the corner of Randolph and Jefferson, that’s all it takes. The 1890’s building will remain, and a new 15-story office building will rise next to — and slightly over — its predecessor, erasing a surface parking lot.

Total height is expected to be 211 feet, with 14 floors of offices up top, and 1,770 square feet of retail space down below. Parking is zilch.

Location: 601 West Randolph Street, West Loop
