It was mid-April when the construction sentinels at YoChicago! told us that the crane was about to come down from the 49-story portion of the One Chicago project. Now Gold Coast Spy Jody has sent in pictures to let us know that the crane has landed. And also sent in some new pictures of the 76-story portion of the two-tower complex.

That 76-story portion certainly has grown quickly. Its construction permit was issued just 14 months ago, and based on Jody’s photos, it looks to be about 75% of its eventual height.
One Chicago is probably the best thing that JDL Development could have done to a surface parking lot in downtown Chicago. It will bring a little over 800 new homes to the neighborhood. It’s also expected to bring in a big gym, and a supermarket. The smaller tower should be finisher later this year. The taller tower, next year.
