Montrose Beach to Get 12 Stories of New Neighbors

One of the few remaining underdeveloped spots overlooking Lincoln Park is going to become a residential high rise.  Dallas-based developer Lincoln Property Company has filed paperwork with the city to put up a 12-story apartment building at 4600 North Marine Drive.

If you’re having trouble placing the location, it’s the surface parking lot immediately south of Weiss Memorial Hospital, on West Wilson Avenue between North Clarendon Avenue and North Marine Drive.  It overlooks the Wilson football field and Montrose Beach

The project was originally going to be 14 stories tall, but was scaled back after input from community groups.  It is now expected to include 88 studios, 168 one-bedroom apartments, and 58 two-bedroom apartments, with a pool on the third floor amenity deck.  The price tag is estimated at between $80 and $90 million.

Weiss Hospital was sold to a California company in 2019, and this past January, administrators told neighbors that selling its parking lot for development is going to help keep the lights on.
