Another Familiar Name Being Erased from Michigan Avenue

Many a preservationist feather was ruffled when the “Santa Fe” sign was taken off the top of the Railway Exchange Building and replaced with a big Motorola sign when Motorola Solutions moved into 224 South Michigan Avenue.  Now the building two doors down is losing its heritage sign.  The “BorgWarner” is coming off the former BorgWarner building.  The permit says it all: INSPECT EXISTING BORG WARNER SIGN...

Johnson Publishing is moving out of its eponymous building at 820 South Michigan Avenue.  It’s moving into the top three floors of the Borg Warner Building (200 South Michigan Avenue).  It was just last week that the Tribune mentioned that a company was interested in the top three floors of that building, and it turns out to be Johnson.
